Statement from James Edward Sved

I am an American heritage architect, architectural historian, and regulatory project manager. My work has focused on historic preservation, environmental and cultural resource management, and highly regulated federal programs.

As the project manager and director of the restoration of Richmond’s Main Street Station, I led a project that received the Restoration Project of the Year Award. I hold a Master of Architectural History from the University of Virginia and have previously guided architectural history and historic preservation practices at several large organizations. In addition, I worked as a Regulatory Subject Matter Expert and Principal Project Manager for sensitive naval nuclear programs. My professional background has been featured in various educational media, including PBS programming. I also founded and published the *Herald de Paris* newspaper and have contributed writings on design and architecture to publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle and Building Design & Construction Magazine.

Recently, I have been subjected to false claims targeting me and my family by an individual named David Farrier, who does not know me personally. These repeated, damaging claims are not grounded in journalism. A personal newsletter that fabricates narratives to provoke fake controversy does not qualify as a legitimate news organization, and circulating this misinformation does not transform it into credible reporting.

In light of what I consider sustained harassment, I sought a civil restraining order against Mr. Farrier. However, the court declined to issue the order, citing concerns about free speech. It is crucial to note that a refusal to grant an order does not equate to judicial endorsement of the unfounded claims or the individual making them.

I have no intention of engaging in a public discourse with someone who continuously disseminates false statements for an audience. My professional record speaks for itself. I urge readers to evaluate sources based on their integrity and incentives, rather than the sheer volume of unfounded allegations they produce.
